1.Some About Moncler

Moncler is a brand with true history, who’s name is synonymous with excellence. The name is in fact an abbreviation of Monestier de Clermont, a mountain village where in 1952 Rene Ramillon, a manufacturer of mountain goods, set up the company and gave life to the down jacket. Initially developed from sleeping bags, in 1954 the new jackets were widely in use by workers in small mountain factories to shelter them from the cold.

The highly regarded French climber Lional Terray upon returning from an expedition to Canada noticed these new down jackets, and commissioned Rene to produce snowsuits, gloves and sleeping bags to provide high resistance to extreme cold. Each garment was produced to the highest specification using both men’s knowledge and expertise. Moncler’s jackets became the explorer’s jacket of choice, being used on  countless climbs and expeditions.

Over the decades the Moncler Down Jacket developed as it’s use changed from the mountain to the city, from sports to moments in everyday life. The jackets were noticeably slimmed down, but the emphasis of the garment remained on quality and warmth, with only French Goose feathers used for the down. Moncler’s now legendary array of colours were added in the 80’s, when young, adventurous city slickers headed to the slopes. Over the decades Moncler has developed into a global premium brand, with a range of products which spans the seasons, and who’s name is synonymous with quality and provenance.
